James Hecker: A Decade Plus of Texture

  • Mulberry Art Studios 19 North Mulberry Street Lancaster, PA, 17603 United States (map)

A Decade Plus of Texture, a collection of mixed media pieces from local artist James Hecker, will be coming to Mulberry Art Studios this September. The show will open with a First Friday Reception from 5pm-8pm on Sept 6, and will run throughout the month of September.

A Decade Plus of Texture delivers exactly what it promises- a decade plus of highly textured abstract pieces created with plaster, oil, and acrylics. James Hecker creates art that offers something new to notice with every viewing, and with a texture that makes you want to reach out and touch it. Textured art seems simple but has a depth and character that can be mesmerizing.

Hecker was born and raised in Mt Joy, and briefly attended Pennsylvania College of Art & Design. His love of art began at the age of 5, when a life threatening heart surgery kept him in the hospital for a year and gave him the time to begin exploring his love of creativity. Hecker started creating art and drawing when he was in the hospital and has never stopped. In 2004, Hecker started a decorative painting business that is still going strong and in 2007 he appeared on HGTV‘s “look what I did” for a client’s foyer textured to mirror an ancient Egyptian tomb.

Guests who wish to view the art but cannot make it to First Friday should contact gallery curator Stephanie Clayton-Kulfan at stephanie.mulberryart@gmail.com to arrange for a time to come to the gallery.
