Tina Denlinger : Simply Complex Acrylics
Simply Complex Acrylics, an exhibit featuring the paintings of local artist Tina Denlinger, will be displayed in the North Gallery of Mulberry Art Studios throughout the month of April. The public is invited to come out and meet the artist at a First Friday Opening Reception on April 2nd from 5pm until 8pm. In addition, a Sunday Reception will be held from 1pm until 4pm on April 11th.
“I like to look at things and take them apart in color and shape, even texture, and then put them back together again in a sort of distorted view” Tina explains. The result is a unique and “simply complex” style. This exhibit includes a few pieces from her Dog Gone Loved series, which focuses on her two dogs, Connor and Matilda. Other paintings were inspired by the smile of Tina’s secret muse. Tina also finds inspiration in her travels, the people she meets along the way, music and various religions. “Though I am Christian, I paint many different religious figures” Tina says. “My feeling is I am glad to see people still believe in something.”
Tina is a self taught artist, who passed up an art scholarship for a few years in Hawaii. Her work has been well received both at home and abroad, especially in Morocco, Mexico, Southern and Western US States, Poland, and Europe. Tina works in a variety of mediums including oil, acrylic and mixed media, and can often be found digging through trash like a raccoon in search of objects to create with.
Tina is the Secretary of the Manheim Historical Committee, and is a member of the Lancaster Art Association and Lancaster Museum of Art.
